Stumbled across this site where all the various Sage's Advice from Dragon Magazine are collected.

Yikes! Thousand level characters? Killed Asmodeus after "several months" of play? Speed-of-light-arrows?

I must have been playing this game really wrong...

Wow! That is an enormously helpful resource. I was dreading the prospect of having to go through each and every old issue of Dragon to incorporate all those clarifications into ADD. Thanks for pointing this out!

And countdown to WotC Cease & Desist Order: 10, 9, 8...

Which would be a shame, because that's an amazing resource.

this quote, from Dragon 31: "...but if you enjoy playing this way, feel free to do so. I don’t want to spoil your fun. "

...such a difference from the stance you see in later issues!

Sage Advice was always the first thing I'd read when I got a new Dragon; thanks for posting this!

Man, it's all coming back. He could be a snarky s.o.b. This is fun reading.

Oh, holy crap! Here's my favorite answer so far:

Heavens, no! Each magic item was created to have a special purpose to function; a Potion of Gaseous Form cannot be used to substitute for a Remove Curse, and neither can any other magic item. The above character would simply become a weak character who is now in gaseous form. But the curse is still in effect, and the ring would “return’’ to his finger once the effects of the potion have worn off. The only possible way to remove the effects of the curse without a Remove Curse would be to kill the character. Then, if the DM will permit it, the party can slip the ring off his finger. This method is more costly than using a Remove Curse, however, since the character would then have to be raised.

I'm going to be up all night reading this.

"My character is a 9th-level Druid changed to a Magic-User (he is now 10th level as a M-U). I want to be able to put my previously owned Apparatus of Kwalish inside my newly acquired Mighty Servant of Leuk-O....My ability scores are Str 13, Int 18(83), Wis 18(90), Dex 12, Con 11, Cha 18(84) and MR 10 (mental resistance, a trait our group uses for psionic combat). He has an unbelievable 338 psionic points!"

And to think, I was excited when my level 5 cleric (Wis 17) found a Ring of Shooting Stars...

This site has a Sage Database twice the size of that one: http://www.purpleworm.org/content/index.php/research/dragons-sage-advice.html
